Quilted Tree Pillow with Sleeve

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd fabric for pillow
  • 1 yd fabric for sleeve
  • 1 red fat-quarter for edge trim
  • Green and red fat-quarters for trees
  • Brown remnant or fat-quarter for tree trunks
  • 14"x28" pillow form
  • Basic sew supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut 2 pieces 15"x29" for pillow front and back.
  2. With RST, sew front to back, leaving and opening for turning.
  3. Clip corners and turn right side out.
  4. Insert pillow form and slip stitch opening closed.
  5. For sleeve, cut two 17"W x 29"L.
  6. Cut three 2" wide strips from fat-quarter; sew ends together and press in half longwise.
  7. Cut various sized triangles from green and red fabrics for trees and brown rectangles for tree trunks.
  8. Place trees as desired on sleeve front.
  9. Machine stitch trees to sleeve close to edges as desired.
  10. With RST, pin trim to both long edges of sleeve.
  11. With RST, stitch sleeve front and back along sides.
  12. Turn RS out and press.
  13. With RST, sew bottom seam; if desired, finish seam.
  14. Turn RS out and slip sleeve over pillow.
